The hebe plant is a popular evergreen shrub known for its attractive foliage and delicate flower spikes. Native primarily to New Zealand, hebes are widely grown in gardens for their versatility, compact growth, and year-round interest.

Hebes typically feature glossy green, blue-green, or variegated leaves, depending on the variety. During summer and early autumn, they produce dense spikes of small flowers in shades of purple, pink, white, or blue, which are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.

These plants thrive in well-drained soil and prefer a sunny or partially shaded position. They are relatively low-maintenance, requiring only light pruning to maintain shape and encourage new growth. Hebes are also well-suited to borders, containers, and coastal gardens due to their tolerance of wind and mild maritime conditions.

With their neat form, vibrant blooms, and ease of care, hebe plants are an excellent choice for adding structure and colour to both modern and traditional garden designs.
