Hydrangea paniculata is a hardy, deciduous flowering shrub valued for its large, cone-shaped flower heads and reliable performance in cooler climates such as Scotland.
Appearance
It produces upright, cone-shaped flower clusters (panicles). The blooms typically open creamy white and gradually develop pink or soft red tones as they mature. The foliage consists of mid-green, slightly rough, oval leaves.
Size and Growth
- Height: 1.5 to 3 metres
- Spread: 1 to 2.5 metres
It has an upright, bushy habit, making it suitable for borders, hedging, or as a standalone feature plant.
Flowering
Hydrangea paniculata flowers from mid-summer to early autumn, usually between July and September. It is one of the latest-flowering hydrangeas, providing colour later in the season.
